Political Education for Young People

In response to the racial justice uprising of 2020, the Freedom Lifted Learning Lab began developing political education opportunities for young people ages 13 - 18 looking to understand and challenge the prison industrial complex (PIC).

History of Policing for Youth

**Young people ages 13 - 18 can now take a free online class** inspired by our summer 2020 History of Policing class and created by Syontoni Hattori-Chatterjee, alumna and youth programs coordinator.
The online course covers policing and police-free futures and takes about 90-min to complete.

Transformative Justice Camp for Youth Activists

In June 2021, Freedom Lifted hosted a free, virtual camp for 50 young people ages 13 - 16 committed to dismantling the prison industrial complex (PIC).
The youth had access to their own online course based on the Transformative Justice Mixtape created by Just Practice.

History of Policing 2020 Workshops

In summer 2020, Freedom Lifted hosted a free 4-part online course for more than 250 young people ages 12 - 18 on the history of policing and what a world could look like without it.
In partnership with the Chicago Freedom School and Assata’s Daughters, we designed these workshops to offer young people the opportunity to learn the historical context behind calls to #DefundPolice. See what the youth and parents had to say.
The class has ended, but anyone can browse the materials we used. (The recordings are not available publicly to protect the privacy of the participants.)
