Workshops for Educators

In response to the racial justice uprising of 2020, Freedom Lifted Learning Lab began hosting live online workshops for young people, teachers, and private groups. Below is some info about these courses. (The recordings are not available publicly to protect the privacy of the participants.)

History of Policing for Youth

In summer 2020, Freedom Lifted hosted a free 4-part online course for more than 250 young people ages 12 - 18 on the history of policing and what a world could look like without it. In partnership with the Chicago Freedom School and Assata’s Daughters, we designed these workshops to offer young people the opportunity to learn the historical context behind current calls to #DefundPolice. See what the youth and parents had to say.

The class has ended, but anyone can browse the materials we used.

Teaching Justice 2020

In August 2020, Freedom Lifted hosted an online seminar for educators who support #BlackLivesMatter and want to create spaces with young people that support racial justice.

The 2-day seminar included live Zoom sessions with guest speakers, breakout discussions, and teaching tools. Participants can sign in below to access recordings and materials in the seminar.

If you missed Teaching Justice 2020, you can still browse shared resources in the padlet.
