Principles for Centering Racial Equity and Healing in the Time of COVID-19

For the past year, Freedom Lifted has worked with the Truth, Racial Healing, and Transformation (TRHT) Michigan sites in Flint, Lansing, Kalamazoo, and Battle Creek. We recently worked together to develop and share these principles with funders in throughout Michigan. This work was seeded by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and is convened by the Council of Michigan Foundations.

How can funders center racial healing and equity at this time?

1. Support healing work at every stage.

2. Distribute resources transparently.

3. Advocate for policy change.

4. Extend extraordinary care in extraordinary times.

5. Model truth telling.
